Whether Oscar or George, I think it's accurate sometimes.  Think of 
our previous humorous discussion of "punting" across the swamp. :-)  
As I said to Geoff, I think in the US I'd be more inclined to say a 
dog was "sniffing" or "sniffling" than "snuffling," which was why I 
asked him whether it might be another UK-US difference....  Then 
again, I'm a cat person, so who knows!
