I had always interpreted Snape's "Whoops" as a dig at
Harry for not seeing to the safety of the potion. I
thought perhaps Harry had set it down in a precarious
place and turned away just before it fell, and Snape
was taunting him for his own clumsiness. Snape may be
several things too nasty to name here, but I can't
imagine he would *admit* breaking the potion and then
tell Harry he would receive "no marks."
Not sure if this is right; just thought I'd offer an
alternate reading.
