Neri again:

We already had red-herring!Snape twice, in SS/PS and in GoF. BTW in 
GoF he was only one suspect out of a bunch, probably because JKR 
realized he's not much of a red herring anymore. Do you really think 
the readers will fall for red-herring!Snape a third time? Somehow I 
doubt it. If the missing 5 hours will be utilized for a mystery plot, 
I trust JKR will make better use of them than that.

And if they won't, well, then maybe not EVERY suspicious occurrence 
is a basis for a mystery plot.
