Potioncat:
I take some characters' testimony as fact, unless I have a
particular reason to doubt it. I take some characters' testimony as
false, unless it is supported in other ways. For example, I believe
DD tells the truth, but he's been known to tell only part of the
truth or to actually mislead.
I trust McGonagall when she says Peter was not up to the standard of
James and Sirius. And it makes me wonder about all the "great"
things Peter has appeared to do in the service of LV.
I would not take anything Sirius said about Snape at full face
value. I would not take anything Snape said about Sirius at full
face value. So I do not discount Snape being well versed in Dark
Arts, but I wonder about it. And I do not think Sirius intended to
kill Snape, but I wonder about it.
