Maybe because, like so many other questions we so much wish we had an
answer to, it is too important for the resolution of the plot ?

It's interesting, though. DD is indeed the only person alive who's
ever defeated an Evil Lord (as far as we know). And yet, he never
mentions this to Harry. He never tells him "this is what I learned
from my own experience". Instead, he seems to be concentrating on
training Harry. A hands-on approach, but not necessarily one that
works very well with Harry. I hope DD will finally realise that, and
adopt a different strategy.
