Just interjecting a bit of canon into the discussion, Harry did listen
to Hermione in this case, as he almost always does. He was going to
fly directly to the MoM, but instead accepted her idea to break first
into Umbridge's office and find out if Sirius is in 12GP. After the
breaking (IIRC) Hermione didn't object anymore to going to the MoM.
