I don't think he needed to torture her to get her to tell what she
again remembered -- surely Imperius would be more effective than
torture for extracting information -- but he may well have tortured
her with Cruciatis afterwards simply for his own amusement.

Btw some time ago a listie pointed out something I hadn't noticed: 
where did LV's horrible-ugly-baby body come from? Well, he had a
female captive and a male servant right there with him ...
