Trelawney goes into a trance when she makes real prophecies; she
doesn't remember them or the contents of the prophecies.  Had she
known that she had accurately predicted the downfall of the Dark Lord
then she would have told the whole world about it and there would
have been nothing secret about the prophecy at all.  JKR would have
had to come up with a new plot line for OOTP.
