that in POA (Chapter Sixteen-- have just the boxed set paperbacks with
me at the moment) she was surprised when Harry quoted her new
prophecy, and said that he must have been dreaming. I assume she may
well not have realized about making the first prophecy either.
Carol:
Right. Remember, she doesn't recall making the second prophecy (the
one in PoA about the servant of the Enemy appearing tonight)? As I
understand it, a prophecy is not made BY but THROUGH the Seer--just as
the Oracle at Delphi was "inspired" by Apollo, who spoke through her
(in ambiguous terms).
So Trelawney probably doesn't know that she spoke the first prophecy,
either, and almost certainly doesn't know what it said, unless
Dumbledore for some reason has told her, and I don't think he would do
so. (And the eavesdropper only knows part of it, not the whole thing.)
