Maybe he dislikes Harry so much because he really likes him, and 
just looking out for him. Sort of the way you have a secret crush on 
someone by acting like you hate them. I'm not saying that Snape is 
gay, I'm saying that maybe he realised that his grudge with James 
and Sirius was childish, but is not man enough to admit it. He grew 
up, but not entirely. He really is protecting Harry, but doesn't 
want to look like a sap in front of every single person he knows, 
including the students. He has a reputation to uphold. Another 
thing, is that very rep he has. He is supposed to be a mean person, 
who was a Death Eater, and many belive he is faithful to Voldemort.
It could be an act for all we know.
