Demetra:
I thought the same thing when I was reading that chapter.  I actually 
wondered whether Harry was going to recall Fawkes healing him after the 
basilisk.
This scene also reminded me of JKR's comments that parts of the POA 
movie 'foreshadow' things in future books.  Lupin had scars on his face 
in the movie, but he is not described that way in the book.  Now in 
book 6, Bill gets attacked by a werewolf and will, presumably, have 
facial scars as a result.
