Well, if you are going to reread my posts than you will see that I 
never said there is any canon. In fact, I stated that I think Filch is 
the person, who will do magic late in life (while you think, she meant 
Merope, if I'm not mistaken). I said about Petunia, that my 
interpretation of the "but" is, that although she's not a Squib, her 
situation is comparable to one, because she, too, has some knowledge 
about the wizarding world without being able to be a part of it. Than 
you answered, that the "but" probably doesn't mean anything at all, and 
I argued that this contradicts the other part of JKR's statement, 
namely that there's more to Petunia than meets the eye. I never said 
that the "but" means, that she has magical powers.
