Harry certainly believes that he is an eyewitness to Snape killing 
Dumbledore.  But is that *proof*?  
Sirius spent 12 years in Azkaban for murders that he didn't commit.  
Yet, the evidence against him was certainly damning.
Dumbledore testified that Sirius was the Potters secret-keeper (we now 
know that he was not).
Fudge says this about Black's imprisonment in HPB (Ch.1, page 11) 
"all the evidence pointed - we had more than fifty eyewitnesses..."
*I* don't think it was a coincidence that this statement of Fudge's is 
in the same book where there is another "eyewitness" account of a 
murder.
