Why is Lupin a Gryffindor?

I don't know how to answer that other than to quote Mary Anne 
Radmacher-Hershey: "Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is 
the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, 'I will try again 
tomorrow.'"
