I'm sorry, I disagree with your statement Peter doesn't admit to being the
spy:

"Sirius, Sirius, what could I have done? The Dark Lord... you have no

idea... he has weapons you can't imagine.... I was scared, Sirius, I was

never brave like you and Remus and James. I never meant it to happen....

He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named forced me --"

"DON'T LIE!" bellowed Black. "YOU'D BEEN PASSING INFORMATION TO HIM FOR

A YEAR BEFORE LILY AND JAMES DIED! YOU WERE HIS SPY!"

"He -- he was taking over everywhere!" gasped Pettigrew. "Wh -- what was

there to be gained by refusing him?"

If that's not Peter agreeing he was helping LV, then I must be having a
reading comprehension problem ;) Furthermore, Peter also reveals LV would
have killed him. As far as the ESE!Lupin theory, I'm not a fan, but I can
see where certain parts of it could be possible if they were more
substantiated in canon to my liking. Until that time, I'll raise you a
Firewhisky that we find Lupin isn't and wasn't ESE... and if you're right,
Pippin, I'll double the shots :)
