Now from Phil:
I am sorry to bust your theory but in COS chapter 17 it says:
"Oh, well ... I'd just been thinking ... if you had died, you'd have been
welcome to share my toilet,"
said Myrtle, blushing silver.

So since she blushes silver, then red blood on a ghost will probably look
silver.
