Marianne:

I'm not sure I buy this.  Sirius shouted "Get out!" at one point to 
Kreacher, who promptly left the house entirely and hightailed it to 
the Malfoys.  He was not accompanying Sirius anywhere. If Kreacher 
can interpret a non-specific order in such a way as to leave the 
house to which he is bound, I still don't see why the house's master 
can't tell the house-elf to go to a specific other location for some 
duration of time.
