Snape's name has interesting resonances too: "snip" (as in "snippy")
and "snap" (as in "snappish"), as well as "snipe", which he does at
his students all the time; also "snake", which suggests the qualities
of subtlety and coldness (and poison--no accident that he's the
Potions Master), and shich ties into the whole Slytherin connection.
