Finwitch:

I think they're using Self Correcting Ink to write the addresses... 
and Aberforth may have used Auto Answer Quill at Hogwarts... (and the 
other things banned from OWL-examinations...)

It's interesting that there ARE several ways to magically aid 
answering questions, but you're not allowed to use them in exams.

Anyway, it seems to me that some, if not most - Owls take letters to 
the place where the person SLEEPS - (Owl waiting on Harry's BED at 
Hogwarts in GoF) or EATS (Owls arriving during the breakfast). Maybe 
it's just staying in the same place for longer than a minute...
