Ceridwen:
Just a thought: At the time the castle was built, could Hogsmeade have
been within the Founders' protections? And if so, could it have been
an escape route from the town into the castle in case of emergency?
The times were supposedly dangerous, with Muggles out to get wizards,
according to the story.
