I've thought of this also.  Now, I know this is only in the PoA 
movie and not in the book, but JKR did say that there was some 
unintentional foreshadowing in the movie.  Lupin tells Harry that 
Lily was able to see things in people, things that they could not 
see themselves, or something to that effect.  Maybe that's an extra 
power that Harry has yet to discover, involving his eyes, and he 
inherited it from his mother.  Just a thought.  I've also wondered 
if every witch/wizard born has some sort of extra magical power that 
is unique to them.
