Well, not really.  He put the memory of himself in the diary at 
16, but I don't think he created the horcrux until later.  
Remember, Lucius had the diary and gave it to Ginny on the sly 
in the bookstore.  However, Voldemort did return to Hogwarts 
after graduation, to ask Dumbledore for a job.  He was in AD's 
office, presumably along with the Sorting Hat.  That said, I 
don't think it is one.  Just a hunch, though, no evidential 
reasons.

Hmmmm, this is true.  I hadn't thought of that.

Plus, the hat talks.  Why wouldn't it give away what was done?
