And Ron is hardly the voice of authority on the subject, or any other
for that matter. And Rowling who is the ultimate voice of authority in
the Potter universe goes to some pains to explain that Legilimency is
NOT mind reading. For Dumbledore to mentally explain to Snape
everything that happened in the cave in a fraction of a second with
nobody else hearing would not only be new magic but also a ham fisted
plot invention that would make the reader feel cheated.

It's Rowling's book not ours, she has the right to invent new magic
especially if it works artistically, and Time Turners work.
