Well, we'll have to disagree on that one.  When I see him interact with 
Harry in some way not determined or deeply colored by nastiness and 
bitterness, I will agree he has grown complex and interesting, as 
opposed to boring and pathetic.  Until then, he's Little Johnny One 
Note who badly needs to be spanked and sent to bed without his supper.
