Nah, you're thinkg about it wrong. It's not the *wizarding*
population of the UK that has to feed 100,000 or so extra mouths, it's
the 60 million Muggles of the UK. That's who they would buy food and
other non-magical supplies from--assuming they need to buy supplies
locally at all.
This comes down to the problem of Wizarding Economics, a subject that
will hurt your brain if you think about it long enough. Just for
example, given the trick that Harry pulled on Slughorn after Aragog's
burial, why does any wizard ever buy more than one bottle of wine?
