Marianne:
Sorry. I was being somewhat flip in my descriptions of Snape's 
abilities in my previous post. But, you're right - I"m mixing my 
mind-invading/defending skills like a crazed Cuisinart. 

Snape is certainly a good enough Legilimens to be able to fly 
through Harry's mental defenses with no problem.  I'm sure he'd be 
able to poke through Neville's mind without much struggle. And, 
though we've never heard him yell "Legilimens!" anywhere except OoP, 
he probably can do that one silently, too, like that silent curse 
that pushed DD off the Tower ;-).
