If you're talking about the scene where Harry's trying to get into 
DD's office after Crouch approached Harry and Krum, then Snape wasn't 
protecting Harry; he was just seizing another opportunity to taunt 
him, for no apparent good reason that I can tell, except it would be 
keeping in character with Snape's general MO.
