Yes, my mileage varies hugely on this comment. I think it's very
insulting. Speaking of super-handsome human professors, if the girls
were giggling about this super-handsome dark skinned professor and his
adorable black curls, and Hermione tried to shut them up with "I'm not
fond of monkeys" retort, we wouldn't be so kind to her, would we?
Even if she still were OK with him teaching Divination.

They don't have to be lying. I'm a foreigner here, and I have a great
trouble understanding people with strong regional accents. It does not
mean I want them out of their jobs, though. :-)
