it still under discussion? There is some fun ideas about Snape and Dog
Lady at St Mungo's and that was given as Snape's reason for always
slipping out of the meals. 

We know that the St. Mungo's nurse says Dog Lady has a son that comes
to visit her. Personally I think the best bet is that Filch is the
son, but I suspect the Filch is related to Snape in someway so Snape
would also be related to Dog Lady and might stop in on her. She could
even be the reason for Snape's original interest in the healing arts.
