Hi there! 
Yes, there was some kind of passing around of Levicorpus because James 
used it on Snape (from the pensieve memory) and although Hermione 
hinted at it to Harry (and he didn't catch it- he assumed she was 
talking or his mind was thinking of the poor muggles at the QWC) that 
people were making other people float along asleep (Snape being 
brought out of the tunnel under the Whomping Willow) and even Lupin 
admitted at Christmas that all sorts of people were using "levi" 
during his time at Hogwarts, spells and things going in and out of 
fashion and all...So while you don't have any canon for Lily spilling 
th beans, levicorpus was widely known. It doesn't seem likely Snape 
got any credit since Lupin didn't mention him in conjunction with it 
though...
