Yes! That's exactly what I have been thinking. Especially if he 
was initially a supporter of Voldemort. The loss of his son may 
have turned him.

I kept wondering throughout HBP where the pictures/memorabilia 
etc of Mr. Black were...but as I said, I cannot find much about 
him, no name on the tapestry that we are given, or anything else. 
Of course, it could mean nothing, but I just found it odd.
