Hee.  I know you didn't mean it this way, but when I read the 
sentence "Couldn't LV have used L. Malfoy instead?," I admit that my 
mind thought you meant couldn't LV have **possessed* Lucius instead of 
Nagini.  So I had this visual image of Voldy-in-Lucius, making him do 
all kinds of stuff like a puppeteer, and of its shortening Lucius' 
life.  As if Nagini is more valuable to Voldy in the end, and he'd 
surely want to preserve the length of her life over Lucius's. <g>

Of course, you meant use him to scope out the DoM, but my first 
reaction was "funner." ;-)
