<<Actually, I have wondered if Hufflepuff will play a more active roll in book seven and here is why.
<<While I was researching online, trying to discover the reason for Hufflepuff's animal, a badger. I learned some interesting things about this creature.
<<First, Because of their fidelity and gentle nature,
<<badgers are seen by some as a symbol of love and
<<loyalty. I had never known that, so now I know why it is the symbol for the <<Hufflepuff house. In folklore, they are considered to have great courage and to <<possess quick thinking. On another site, I read that badgers are typical gentle <<creatures but when cornered, they are ferocious fighters. That is why I wonder <<if we will see more from Hufflepuff in the final book.
<<I imagine that things are going to be quite dark, and that everyone may get <<involved. Perhaps it is here that the Hufflepuffs take a more direct stand.
<<Kellie who doesn't know but is eager to see what the seventh book has in store for us.
DA Jones now:
JKR has made comments about Ravenclaw having it day, which since it didn't seem to happen in book 6 will prob happen in book 7. But no one ever seems to ask about Hufflepuff. It almost seems to be the also ran house. Which I think JKR has done intentionally. I thinks she wants the Hufflepuffs to be low on our radar so when they literally burst out heroically to Harry's aid it has maximum impact.
Hufflepuffs are portrayed as loyal and hardworking but not very naturally bright. Whereas Ravenclaws often get by with natural talent and Gryffindors with audicity and Slytherins with cunning nothing comes easy to a Hufflepuff. JKR has portrayed all the Hufflepuffs as kind and decent (with the exception of Zacharias) and all the tragedy has happended to Hufflepuffs (Hannah Abbots mothers death and Susan Bones Aunt Amelia). I think she wants to build our sympathy for them because some horrible things are going to happen to the Hufflepuffs.
Ernie after the events in COS has been one of Harry's most loyal supporters, but Harry has not approached him for help. He has to ask, because one of the flaws of the Hufflepuff personality is a reluctance to act. Ernie is the leader but he seems to lead by consensus.
In HBP prince Harry runs past a whole group of Hufflepuffs are Ernie asks him what is going on. INstead of answering Harry just runs on past and I've always thought JKR put that little seen in to show how Harry could have help for the Hufflepuffs if he just asked and also to show the flaw in that type of personality. You can't deliberate when your house is burning you need to put out the fire, and Griffs do that. I can see the Hufflepuffs as having noticed the call to aid with the coins in HBP but having debated about it for 2 hours before bring practically to whole house down to see what was happening.
I expect that JKR will have the Hufflepuffs of the DA will come to Harry's aid almost to late, but when they come she will portray them heroically. You will cry over the Hufflepuffs. 2 or 3 of the Hufflepuffs who are minor char may join Cedric beyond the vaill but they will make him proud doing it. They are char that are borderline major char and if JKR wants to show the horror of war they may be on the chop. I expect Susan Bones to be one of them due to all the forshadowing re: her family. Hannah Abbot's would be a horrible death if portrayed right because next to Luna she is the sweetest char.
Justin may go becuase I think he is going to be chosen by JKR as Luna's beau.
I'm a Justin/Luna shipper. Neville may end up with Hannah if she survives. I can't see him with a Ravenclaw or a Gryff though Lavender could raise his confidence like Ron.
Harry needs to find the Hufflepuff cup so he needs some of their help for that. Zacharias is either a DE or the Heir of Hufflepuff.
