If you go further with the DD as Snape's father figure thinking, I 
think it may be a factor in Snape's feelings towards Harry -- Harry, 
not Snape, is DD's favorite, Harry, not Snape, is the one with the 
power to vanquish LV, Harry, not Snape, is the one who gets all the 
glory and attention, etc.
