Magpie:
Many people have definitely had that theory over the years. Personally, I 
don't think he's warning her out of a desire to do good. I always thought it 
was more showing that while Malfoy has no good intentions towards the Trio, 
his priorities are in getting their attention, coming across as in-the-know, 
and being threatening...not actually seeing Hermione tormented by DEs.
