Muggle vs. Wizardling geopolitics, was Re: Christmas

Wizardling political boundaries do not always follow Muggle ones.  Ireland has
been independent of Britain (except for the Six Counties) for some time, but the
British Ministry of Magic seems to regulate Irish wizardry still.  Also,
Transylvania seems to be a separate political unit among Wizards, but in the
Muggle world it is divided between Romania and Hungary.
