I think you didn't read my post very carefully.  I wasn't 
talking about Snape's actual childhood (before he came to 
Hogwarts) at all.  I said that the relationship between 
Dumbledore and Snape reminds me of a dysfunctional 
parent-adult child relationship in which the adult child 
engages in a kind of emotional blackmail against the parent 
for past wrongs which truly did happen but which one would 
expect an adult to be able to put in the past.

Of course it could just be an act to disguise the true 
nature of their relationship, since Harry, with his direct 
connection to Voldemort, is always around when Snape and 
Dumbledore are interacting.
