Yes, that and the fact that Harry expected to die. He had no idea he 
might survive; he didn't go into it expecting to trick LV.

By that point, I had no idea what was going to happen. Everything 
seemed to be so horrible. I think JKR did a pretty good job of 
surprising us (OK,  surprising me.)

Well, the people at Universal who signed the amusement park deal 
would be pretty upset.  ;-)
