Actually, in Japanese literature, it's not at all uncommon for the hero
to fail in the impossible task. The key is to go further than anybody
thought he might. If the HP series was Japanese, Harry would have killed
Nagini, Morty would have laughed, and told Harry that he was a Horcrux,
and the only way that Morty can be defeated is if Harry dies, and Harry
cutting off his own head with the Sword of Gryffindor.
