Which brings to mind and interesting question.  IIRC we are told that  Eloise 
Midgen tried to curse her acne off and wound up missing her nose (which  was 
reattached by Madame Pomfrey)  So if a curse is dark magic why does  Eloise 
have her nose  but poor George is still is still missing an  ear?
