It was not his first time Apparating :-). He Apparated himself and 
Dumbledore after the cave back to Hogsmeade in HBP. I really think that 
in DH Hermione is "in charge" of their Apparations not because Harry 
and Ron can't do it, but because they want to get to the same place and 
not to get lost.
