Mary:
I am afraid it is going to be Ron....The "love connection" between
Ron and Hermione has been there since the second book.  Rowling was
a classics major at university, as I understand.  In Greek literature,
Hermione, daughter of King Menelaus and Helen of Troy, was married to
Orestes (of Agamemnon/Clytemnestra/Erinyes fame).  Orestes met his
death by the bite of a snake!
