Lenore:
I've been bothered by the same kinds of missed opportunities,
especially when Hagrid had been able to contact several of the
old friends of Harry's parents, yet there was no followup at all.
I wish Harry had been invited to contact some of them, or
that Harry had simply had enough curiosity to ask Hagrid
for specific details about those friends so he could talk to them.

One reason that Harry became obsessed with the Mirror was
because he did not have enough information about his parents.
But their friends could have been enormously helpful to him, just
in sharing what his parents were like, interesting experiences
which they and their friends had had, etc.
