Julie:
JKR hasn't ever commented directly about the missing 24 hours. She 
has said that we will learn more about what happened at Godric's 
Hollow. She has also strongly hinted that someone else was there 
besides Voldemort and the Potters. Whatever we learn in DH may or may 
not fill in the entire "missing" time, but it should at least give us 
a little better idea of the timeline from Voldemort's arrival at the 
Potters' house to Harry's arrival at the Dursleys. 

Yep, there is definitely more to come on that story. Whether it's 24 
hours worth we'll find out in about 7 weeks ;-)
