Alla:

I think you are making a mistake here in saying that Snape "knew" what
awaited him before he left to go to the Whomping Willow. All he knew, from
canon, is that Lupin was on the other side. He did not know yet "what" Lupin
"was", so you can't make any assertions about Snape wanting to get bitten or
killed by a werewolf. I think it is 100% reasonable to say that if Snape
KNEW that Lupin was a werewolf, he would have had no reason to find out
"why" Lupin went under the tree to begin with!
