I would like to add that I *love* that Harry immediately sees this as 
a challenge and refuses to break eye contact. He's not going to let 
Snape stare him down!  Which, of course, if precisely the wrong move 
(as we now know, after OotP.)

Of course! That's why he doesn't confront Lupin with what he has 
deduced. Thanks, I have wondered about that for *ages*.
