As the previous poster (Katie) pointed out, Harry found information 
about Ron's "illness" in Arthur Weasley's file ("Youngest son currently 
at home, seriously ill, Ministry inspectors have confirmed"). 

I just wanted to add that earlier, when Lupin came to Grimmauld place, 
he also mentioned that the DEs who appeared at the wedding and searched 
the Burrow "found the goul, but didn't want to get too 
close ..."(p.206, Am.ed.).
