But kids are so quick to accept what thier peers say over what parents 
say. Arthur could tell Ron there's nothing to it, a hat is put on your 
head, then the hat speaks. 

Then the twins would just nod and say "Of course he "would" tell you 
that..." and Ron would go off convinced he would have to fight a troll.

I don't think it's really a big secret, so much as there is still 
secrecy around it, with a bit of gullibility and a touch of nervousness.
