question about crookshanks

LOL. :-) Actually, another question too had nagged me. When HRH meet 
Sirius in the Shrieking Shack (PoA climax) and learn about Scabbers, at 
one point, Sirius says "Crookshanks, did you call him?" but then I 
think nobody had called Crookshanks by his name till then. Let me know 
if I'm wrong.
