question about crookshanks

LOL. That seems to be the only explanation for inter-species 
communication, given that some humans could speak parseltongue. :-) 

There is another question I had. At one point, Sirius 
mentions "Crookshanks, did you call him?" (when he explains his past to 
HRH in PoA climax). I think none had addressed Crookshanks by his name 
that night for Sirius to make that remark. If I'm right, what was 
Sirius talking about then?
